Above: Chef and owner of Luce Ristorante Joe Buonincontri paired his signature “Sicilian” deep-dish pizza last night with Sicilia Rosso by Colosi, a blend of Nero d’Avola and smaller amounts of Merlot from the island of Salina off the coast of Messina, Sicily (imported by Vias Imports).

Mosaic would like to thank everyone who came out for Monday night’s Pizza and Pizza Wines event featuring the wines of Vias Imports at Luce Ristorante e Enoteca in San Antonio.

San Antonio celebrates the Southern Italian Wines of Vias Imports

Guests at last Saturday night’s Southern Italian Wine dinner included Italian wine connoisseur Mary Green (seated right), San Antonio socialite and organizer of the San Antonio Breast Cancer Symposium (December 9-13, 2009, click link to find out more about how you can contribute).

Guests enjoyed a 5-course dinner prepared by chef and owner Joe Buonincontri, featuring classic Italian regional cuisine.

7 wines were served, including a Prosecco by Bisol (Veneto) as guests arrived and Montepulciano d’Abruzzo by Cataldi Madonna (Abruzzo) and Sicilia Rosso by Colosi (Sicily) — the two big hits of the evening.

Mosaic Wine Group’s very own Jeremy Parzen, Ph.D. spoke tableside about the wines and the pairings.

Chef Joe Buonincontri’s “cotoletta alla milanese,” Milanese-style breaded veal chop with potato croquette was the star of the evening!
