San Antonio celebrates the Southern Italian Wines of Vias Imports

Here are some highlights from last Saturday night’s Wines of Southern Italy dinner proudly presented by Luce Ristorante e Enoteca, Vias Wines, and Mosaic Wine Group…

Fiano d’Avellino Terredora (Campania)
Greco di Tufo Terredora (Campania)
Montepulciano d’Abruzzo Cataldi Madonna (Abruzzo)
Primitivo Cantele (Puglia)
Sicilia Rosso Colosi (Sicily)
Aglianico Terredora (Campania)

Guests at last Saturday night’s Southern Italian Wine dinner included Italian wine connoisseur Mary Green (seated right), San Antonio socialite and organizer of the San Antonio Breast Cancer Symposium (December 9-13, 2009, click link to find out more about how you can contribute).

Guests enjoyed a 5-course dinner prepared by chef and owner Joe Buonincontri, featuring classic Italian regional cuisine.

7 wines were served, including a Prosecco by Bisol (Veneto) as guests arrived and Montepulciano d’Abruzzo by Cataldi Madonna (Abruzzo) and Sicilia Rosso by Colosi (Sicily) — the two big hits of the evening.

Mosaic Wine Group’s very own Jeremy Parzen, Ph.D. spoke tableside about the wines and the pairings.

Chef Joe Buonincontri’s “cotoletta alla milanese,” Milanese-style breaded veal chop with potato croquette was the star of the evening!

Thank you, everyone, for coming! We’ll be announcing the date of “The Tuscan Wines of Vias Imports” at Luce shortly. So please stay tuned!
