Flora Springs: celebrating 30 years of a California icon

flora2005Mosaic Wine Group celebrates 30 year of one of California most coveted, iconic wineries, Flora Springs, with the 2005 release of its flagship wine, Trilogy — a Napa Valley benchmark and one of the original Meritage wines, owned by the Komes family (that’s Flora Komes’s silhouette, the new logo, left, which adorns each bottle of this historic, family-owned winery).

“Perched on the bench of the Mayacamas in the farthest northwest corner of the Rutherford appellation, the location of the Flora Springs Estate is enviable. In 1984, we set out to make the best wine possible by hand-selecting the highest quality lots from our estate vineyards. Using a blend of Bordeaux varietals, we created Trilogy, one of the original Meritage wines. Now a Napa Valley benchmark, Trilogy represents meticulous sustainable and organic farming practices, along with the evolution of a wine style created by the Komes-Garvey families. And over twenty years of Trilogy later, our goal remains the same — to handcraft the finest wine possible from the Flora Springs Estate.”

We recently caught up with Mosaic Wine Group friend Andrew Raifaisen, who joined the historic Flora Springs team in 2006 as National Sales Director. “One of the benefits of working for a family-owned business is that people are really important,” he told us. “I feel honored to be a part of the evolution of this winery.”
